HORSEMANSHIP

Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT) is an interactive process. As horses are extremely perspective and reactive to the human’s state of mind, veterans will need to learn to trust, communicate, and maintain a positive and calm demeanor, and reacting in a manner that does not startle the relationship with the horse. Veterans will learn how to groom and effectively ride. The Whitetail Ranch Center will employee a Health Specialist & PATH certified therapeutic riding instructor who also holds a PATH Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning certification. It is anticipated that the Health Specialist & PATH Instructor will work in collaboration and consultation with the mental health provider to address individual veteran needs. The Whitetail Ranch Center will also develop a wild mustang program in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management.
